Candace Batycki - Nelson Council
Candace Batycki is a life-long environmental advocate with strong values around social well-being, equity, and cultural creativity. She was Director of Forest Programs for ForestEthics, where she worked for a decade on successful campaigns to protect BC’s ecosystems, including 380,000 ha of mountain caribou habitat.
As a Nelson city councillor she will work to increase Nelson’s sustainability and resiliency, reducing our climate impacts while preserving Nelson’s wonderful natural, social and cultural wealth. She will work for a Green Economic Development Strategy, improved transit, shelter and housing for youth, and community initiatives such as local food security (including backyard hens), neighbourhood involvement, composting, and preserving natural green space.
