Lisa Helps - Victoria Council
It was the mid 1980s. I was thirteen years old. My friends and I were tired of seeing garbage on the roadside as we biked to and from each others' houses. So we bought white t-shirts and fabric markers and founded T.I.M.E. - Teens Interested in Maintaining the Environment. We never did more than pick up garbage.
Yet from that early age, sustainability has been one of my core commitments and a common sense way of life. It’s why I dug up the lawn and planted food. It’s why I travel by bicycle, keep backyard chickens, and work to create a strong local economy.
And it's why I’ll work hard as a councillor to ensure that sustainability is the lens through which all decisions are viewed.
