ENVIRONMENTAL ENDORSEMENT POLICY RELEASED
FOR MAY 17
(Victoria, BC) The Conservation Voters of BC (CVBC) released its endorsement policy today, the yardstick it will use to evaluate and endorse candidates for the May 17 provincial election. This marks the first time in Canada that candidates will be systematically evaluated and campaigned for based on their environmental outlook.
“The public wants better performance from its elected officials on issues of clean water, air, energy and land,” said Matt Price, Coordinator of CVBC. “This endorsement policy will allow us to choose which candidates to get behind so that the public’s expectations can be met.”
CVBC is non-partisan in that it is open to endorsing candidates in any political party. The endorsement policy lays out a two-part evaluation process based first on the candidate him or herself, and second on the viability of his or her campaign.
Unlike other environmental organizations, CVBC is non-charitable and can therefore engage actively in election campaigns.
