(Victoria, BC) The Conservation Voters of BC (CVBC) would like to congratulate the five candidates it offered endorsements to. Four out of the five endorsees won last night.
"Our first ever campaign was a great success," said Matt Price, Coordinator of CVBC. "Our support played a key role in two very tight races last night and the victories prove that the issue of the environment has political power."
CVBC was able to put the most effort into the races in Vancouver-Fairview and Saanich South where its endorsees Gregor Robertson and David Cubberley won by 746 votes and 328 votes respectively. In those ridings combined, CVBC knocked on 5,000 doors and delivered another 5,000 brochures.
"We look forward to working with our endorsed MLA's, and indeed with all MLA's on important BC environmental issues that require leadership," said Price.
The other three endorsements were offered to George Abbott (Shuswap), Adriane Carr (Powell River-Sunshine Coast), and Rob Fleming (Victoria-Hillside).
